Ever take a bite of an apple, leave it out and return hours later? That luscious green apple you initially took a crisp bite of is now brown and mealy on the inside.  This is a classic example of OXIDATION. OXIDATION is defined as the loss of an electron. Seems fairly harmless right? Wrong. Take the element Iron as an example. When a strong iron beam is exposed to oxygen and moisture it will begin to rust. Iron easily looses its electrons making it vulnerable to OXIDATION. Humans are vulnerable to OXIDATION too. Luckily we have the power and protection of ANTIOXIDANTS. Antioxidants work in the opposite direction by allowing elements to gain electrons.

Glutathione is a naturally occurring antioxidant produced by humans. Several environmental factors can deplete our glutathione levels such as acetone from nail salons, nitrates from foods, and the plastics used for food storage. Luckily glutathione can be replenished by foods like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, garlic, parsley, spinach and beets. It is also available in oral capsules and intravenous (IV) therapy.

Glutathione benefits the human body in several ways including: stabilizing oxygen free radicals, restoring levels of vitamin C and E, DNA synthesis and repair, and regulation of the cell cycle.  Disorders such as macular degeneration, allergic rhinitis, ALS, COPD and some cancers can improved with glutathione treatments.

Another unique use of this miracle antioxidant has been its internal use for skin. Glutathione has direct and indirect inhibition of tyrosinase enzyme. Tyrosinase is involved in the production of melanin which gives skin its pigment. Different forms of melanin include Eumelanin, Pheomelanin, and Neuromelanin. Eumelanin is found in black and brown skin tones. Pheomelanin is found in red hair and freckles. Neuromelanin is found in the brain.  What we find is that the inhibition of tyrosinase prevents the formation of eumelanin with increased production of Pheomelanin. This ultimately causing darker skin tones to lighten. This can be beneficial in patients interested in scar reduction and a brighter complexion.

The Hormone Zone is proud to provide our patients with IV Glutathione therapy compounded by authorizes pharmacies. We provide these treatments as part of our treatments for chronic fatigue and mitochondrial repair, acne, dull complexion,  and overall skin lightening.  Patients can expect to see results after a series of IV treatments administered weekly. The number of treatments is deterred by your Hormone Zone physician. Contact us today to begin your IV Glutathione treatment.
